It's Our Jesse Rose Remix

So we just remixed Jesse Rose's spankin new track Touch My Horn. It just came out about 2 weeks ago on Dubsided, Switch's record label, and includes 2 other tracks for the song Forget My Name featuring London's favorite Hot Chip. Also you may have noticed that I didn't use the EP's artwork which quite resemble the one featured above. That's because it's actually the artwork used to promote what is described as "the first essential dance album for 2009", which would be What Do You Do If You Don't ?, Mr. Rose upcoming full length scheduled to drop digitally on the 23rd of February. For you Cd fans, you don't have to wait, it came out today so I suggest you go get it. But for now here is our Touch My Horn Remix, which is to our excitement, Jesse Rose approved !

Destination

As you probably know by now the new Damn Arms is finally out. Needles to say they've completely changed directions parting ways with two of the original members and shattering their nu-punk image behind. Lately G.L.O.V.E.S and Tim (the two Damns Arms survivors) have been producing disco-house " Destination I & II are both excellent laid-back, housy, light and groovy songs that will certainly enlarge Damn Arms fanbase and inevitably loose a few for obvious reason. Personally I don't mind the drastic change, their new songs are great, but it bums me out to know they won't be doing stuff like their old songs ever again... As for now, listen to Destination and think of it as a new start for the band.

Solo : We Are The Midgets EP

This London-based producer definitely know how it's done. His new EP We Are The Midgets, contains 3 excellent original tracks. I personally bought the EP and if I had to choose, I would say Afreaka is my favorite of all 3. Solo also happens to co-run Deadfish Record with non-other than fellow UK embassador Mowgli (which I mentioned in an earlier post). A sibling is also underway for Deadfish Records. Freshfish Records, is what you could call a second division of Deadfish and will be releasing what they call Midget House, who is described as, quote: "small and funny"- Mowgli. Technically We Are Midgets is released under Freshfish, but is filed under Deadfish at Beatport.com. Anyway, keep an eye on both.

Qoso remixes El Guincho

Qoso just dropped a brilliant new remix of El Guincho's song Antillas. As you may have guessed, he kept the original tropical/spanish sound of  the El Guincho track and simply added a little baltimore club music classic background rhythm. He also did a little sampling job on the main vocals and of course reconstructed the drums/beat to make them more dancefloor friendly. Make sure you check out his other work, I would personally recommend you his Martin Brothers remix.

I found this remix a few days ago and I've been playing it ever since. Already a fan of the squad, I had been listening to their KillaQueens remix off their myspace for a little while now. Vie is another great production from these 2 london producers. It appears on the Trumpets & Tom Toms EP (featured above), which I could only find on vinyl. If you have the chance to get your hands on it, don't hesitate it's really amazing. Here is their new Bitches remix , the quality as been reduced for promotion purposes.

The Shoes Remixes Local Girl

Here is an outstanding remix of one of my favorite track of 2008. The french act The Shoes decided to completely reinvent the melodic aspect of the song while making sure that the original structure was still the same. It's more a remake than a remix I would say. Anyway the result is breathtaking, truly serves the original. The video of the song is also out and it features some vintage archive clips of a young figure skater performing the routine of her life.

Spider & The Flies

It seems that the 'horrific' duo will be finally releasing their mini LP Something Clockwork This Way Comes. The long awaited LP is very well crafted from what I've heard so far plus it should be pretty interesting since it was recorded with a lot of classic analog synths and effects. The song posted below, Metallurge, is a noisy weird piece that pretty much sums up what their aiming for sound-wise. Not for everybody but still quite interesting.

Mikix The Cat will be releasing 3 new remixes between this winter and this spring. I've listened to all three and this is by far the best one from the bunch. It sort of has the Freeze core right after the built up and the result is just plain raw. Here is the Supabeatz remix .

New Black Lips

The Black Lips are about to release their brand new album and here's the first single Starting Over. It sounds a bit raw, as usual, but we know what to expect from those 4 Atlanta boys. 200 Million Thousands is the name of the disc and it will be out on the 24 of February 2009. Check out this Andy George remix. The wobbly bass line of course reminds us of a certain Jack Beats remix that came out a few moths ago on Palmsout rec. For those who like the whole wobbly bassline thing I would definitely recommend.In the same bassy/bubbly/wobbles, The Radio 1 monthly resident also finished a Futurhead remix that is currently up on his myspace.

A new Cut Off Your Hands is always welcome. I had lost sight of them for a while but it seems that they will be releasing their first full length pretty soon, early 2009 more precisely. From what I've heard so far, I wouldn't be surprise if the whole CD was as good as their previous works. Also they re-recorded most of their previous hit singles so everything should sound great. Here's a remix I had never noticed until I randomly stumbled upon it last week. I always find Toddla T's work interesting but I would say that this particular remix is more accessible then usual. On the other hand, Esser's song is quite good itself so I think the combination between Toddla's solid rhythmics and Esser's poppy voice is quite a duo. Wow I had never actually took the time to listen to the other material from Telepathe. I taught Chrome's On It was great but I just wouldn't commit myself to listen to their other songs. I now understand what all the excitement around this 3 piece from Brooklyn was about. I even saw them at Korova after their show with The Kills I think but I can't remember if they finally did djayed that night. I also was skeptical towards this band cause of I thought everyone was loving them for their look... I was wrong. So to forgive myself I'll post these two amazing song that I just discovered the other day.

Heavily promoted and signed by the prestigious Vice Records, these 4 california guys have been making an awful lot of noise these past few months. I would describe their sound as garage /surf/ party rock. 2 of the band members were seriously involved in the californian surf scene, the singer was a pro and the drummer carved boards so yeah, we do feel the influence. Their first self titled full length has been out for about a month and a half now so it is definitely not to late to get a grip of this 12 track sensation. No this is not Strokes.It is related though. This is actually the drummer's side project. It is practically impossible not to think about them when you listen to this song. The voice, well let's just say it is disturbingly comparable to you know who... Anyhow it doesn't take anything away from the quality of the song, it still sounds great. I would recommend you to check their other songs. The singing alternates between the guy Rodrigo  Amarante of Los Hermanos and the other girl Binki Shapiro, and their are a few acoustic/folky good song to discover on the CD. If your curious  you won't be disappointed.

I just saw the video for this song and it reminded me how good it was. I never had the chance to see them live in concert but I would assume it must be pretty amazing. Entanglements, their latest CD, is simply amazing. Zac Pennington androgynous voice is absolutely outstanding, and the musical achievement on this record is in my opinion some of their best work so far. Entanglements.
